There is a great new blog called Polkadoodles and they are having their first challenge, it looked so nice I thought I would have a go at it. The design teams cards are so pretty, go and check it out and see the card sketch, heres a link http://polkadoodle.blogspot.com/
I had a birthday card to make so I decided to have a bash at the challenge at the same time!!
For mine I got out my storybook cart, there is just so much on this one cart I love it!! I cut out the scalloped circle in 2 sizes to get the shadow, ran the smaller of the 2 through my cuttlebug with my new birds and swirls folder my big sis got me and inked it brown, then i inked the bigger scallop and popped some brown dots around the edge. I foam squared them together and opped them on my base ( also inked...you know how i love to ink!!!!)
Then I cut the bird on the branch and cut the robin to go on top ( that took a bit of playing around to cut one a size that would go nicely but I found it !!!) I inked all the edges brown and inked the leaves green.I went over the wing and eye with a brown whisper pen and then glazed the little robin to make him pop up a little, he is such a cutie.
I popped a bit of ribbon across and made my sentiment in word ( inside just says '....its your birthday') and inked th edges of that too (.....Lou wonders if she needs to join inkers anonymous?!!lol!!)
The little bird in the circle is just a punched circle I popped through my cuttlebug with the birds and swirls folder again, strategically placing it to get the little bird in the middle!!!!!!!....errrr...inked again!!!
As for the corner, I actually cheated a little bit . I wanted to use all my scraps left from my layout as the thin cardstock I used was just so pretty and I just had enough left to do the card so I cut 2 sqaures, (one patterned and one plain) cut them in half diagonally and stuck them on, I popped a basic grey brad through the plain piece that tied in the colours.
I think it turned out cute, I just have a sketch book left to make to finish off the birthday order from big sis for the person she asked for the card tonight and the present will be done.
Thankyou for popping by, hope you are all enjoying the weekend xxxx http://polkadoodle.blogspot.com/
